Terms of Use
Last updated:
By downloading or using Fam108 (“the app”), you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Fam108 is a personal/family expense-tracking app. It stores your data locally on your device and offers optional family synchronization through a server — by default a server we operate, or one you provide yourself if you choose (see our Privacy Policy, section 2). The app is provided for your personal, non-commercial use.
2. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.
- You are responsible for safeguarding access to your device, your Fam108 account password (if you create one), and any synchronization server you choose to use with Family Sync.
- You agree not to misuse the app, reverse-engineer it except as permitted by law, or use it for unlawful purposes.
- If you generate a code that lets a child sign in independently, you are responsible for that code and for the child account it creates, the same way you're responsible for a family invite code you share.
3. Not financial advice
Fam108 is a tracking and budgeting tool. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Calculations and summaries are for your information only; you are responsible for your own financial decisions.
4. Data and backups
Your data is stored on your device. We do not back it up for you. Uninstalling the app, erasing data, or losing your device may result in permanent loss of your data. Use the export feature to keep your own backups.
5. Family Sync
If you enable Family Sync, it uses our default server unless you configure a different one. If you point it at a server you run yourself instead, we do not operate or control that server and are not responsible for its availability, security, or the data it holds.
6. Accounts
You may use Fam108 as a guest (joining a family by invite code, no account) or create a personal account (email+password, or Sign in with Apple/Google) to sign in from multiple devices and recover access if you forget your password.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your password confidential.
- You may delete your account at any time, in-app or at fam108.com/delete-account. Deleting your account does not delete your family's shared data — see our Privacy Policy, section 8, for the distinction.
- We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.
- A child account created via a parent-issued code is subject to these same terms; the parent who generated the code is responsible for its use.
7. Availability and changes
The app is provided “as is” and “as available.” We may modify, update, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app.
9. Subscriptions
Fam108 is free to use for one space and two family members. Fam108 Plus and Fam108 Business unlock the limits and features listed in the app and on the pricing page. A subscription belongs to the family, purchased through one of two channels — who you're actually buying from differs between them, described separately below.
- Trial. Every new family starts with a 14-day trial of Plus. No payment details are required to start it, and it ends by itself — it does not convert into a paid subscription on its own.
- Prices. Current prices are shown in the app and on the pricing page before purchase and may differ by country or channel. We may change prices for future periods; you will be asked to agree before any changed price applies.
- When a subscription ends. Nothing is deleted. Content beyond the free limits — extra spaces, members, accounts, receipts — remains visible, exportable and synced. It becomes read-only: you cannot add new content past the free limits until you subscribe again.
9a. Mobile app purchases (Apple, Google)
- Billing. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Handled by Apple and Google under their own policies, because they are the merchant of record for this channel. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase. Where consumer law gives you a right of withdrawal (for example in the EU), you may exercise it through the store.
9b. Web purchases (fam108.com, app.fam108.com)
- Billing. Subscriptions bought on our website are processed by Stripe, our payment processor — we, Fam108 (TODO(user): legal entity name — see section 10), are the merchant of record for this channel, not Stripe and not Apple/Google. Your card is charged directly by us through Stripe at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Renews automatically for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the app's subscription management screen (opens Stripe's own billing portal); cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage your payment method, view invoices, or cancel at any time from the app's subscription management screen — no need to contact us directly, though you can (section 11).
- Refunds. Requests go to us directly (section 11), not to Stripe or a store — we are the merchant of record for this channel. TODO(user): state the actual refund policy/window for web purchases (the store channel's policy in section 9a does not apply here).
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction stated by the app’s publisher, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
