A budget app that does not need our server

Fam108 keeps your data on your device. Syncing between phones is optional, and when you turn it on you choose where it goes: our server by default, or one you run yourself.

Your data stays with you

Everything you enter is stored on your phone first. If you never turn sync on, none of your budget data leaves the device (crash reports are the one exception, described below). If you turn it on, a copy lives on a sync server so the family’s other phones and the web can see it. That server is ours (api.fam108.com) unless you change it. There is no end-to-end encryption: whoever runs the server can technically read what it holds, which is a good reason to run your own if that matters to you.

Pointing the app at your own server

Where this stands today

The sync server is a small Node.js service that keeps its data in a single SQLite file. We do not publish it as a ready-to-run package yet. If you want to run your own, write to support@fam108.com.

What stays the same

Whichever server you use, there is no bank login, no ads and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Crash reports are the one exception to “your server”: they always go to our server, carry no names, amounts or family data, and can be switched off in the phone apps under Settings → “Legal”.

If you want no server at all

Never turn sync on, and no server, ours or yours, ever receives your budget: it lives on your device (only crash reports go to us, as described above). You can still export it to CSV whenever you like.
